My Story
I am a California licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy and NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, working in the orthopaedic outpatient setting. Although I have extensive experience treating a wide variety of orthopaedic/ post-op, neurologic and vestibular presentations, my specialty interest is in performing arts therapy, making the "bendy population" my forte. I treat dancers, gymnasts, aerialists and cheerleaders alike, ranging from age 10 to retired. I value an evidence-based approach, and focus on manual therapy, neuromuscular re-education, strength training and guiding my patients toward embodiment and independent management of their symptoms. Other special interests of mine include pain neuroscience, BPPV, geriatric group physical therapy, management of the spine and hip, olympic lifting, aquatic therapy, and whole-person biopsychosocial wellness.
My journey began at a local ballet studio in Petaluma, California. I was a dedicated classical ballet dancer from the age of 3. I went on the to earn my minor in dance at Boise State University in 2015. From there, I had the opportunity to dance professionally, with Idaho Dance Theatre, Idaho's premier contemporary dance company. I also taught various styles of dance (mainly ballet, pointe, lyrical & contemporary) for all ages, at multiple studios across the county, in California, Idaho and North Carolina.
Academically, I earned my AS in Natural Sciences from the SRJC with highest honors in 2012, my BS in Kinesiology Exercise Science from Boise State University Magna Cum Laude in 2015, and my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Baylor University in Texas, Summa Cum Laude in 2019. During my doctorate studies, I did clinical rotations in outpatient sports therapy, inpatient rehabilitaiton and both clinical and school-based pediatrics.
Professionally, I worked at two private outpatient ortho clinics, treating a wide variety of diagnoses, teaching group physical therapy (back pain, balance and osteoporosis), working in aquatics and treating athletes and dancers. Desiring to niche down, I founded my own private PT business, Dance Health. I see patients via zoom or at my rehabilitation space out of my home. I also offer online courses, in-person studio workshops and dance performance enhancement services.
My mission is not only to treat performing artists, but to transform the world of dance through integrating evidence-based scientific pedagogy, culture, training, prehab and rehab to create a healthier performing arts environment. I also strive to guide individuals toward wellness not only physically, but emotionally, and spiritually/ psychologically. I aspire to help each client/ patient achieve their fullest potential in life.
